Today is probably the only day in the history I will even mention
politics on this here blog of mine. And
I’m really not even going to mention them today. I’m not going to tell you who I voted for or
who I think you should vote for. To be
honest, I am tired of the hateful Facebook rants and the judgmental accusations
of others regarding one’s political beliefs.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m passionate about my decision, but what I am more
passionate about than “my candidate” is unity and the knowledge that God is in control. And He is so much bigger than what will
happen today. A few weeks ago I would
debate with the best of them regarding what little I knew about the issues at
hand. I would worry and worry about what
would happen if fill-in-the-blank doesn't win.
But you know what I have realized – better yet what God has taught
me? My hope is not in this world. My hope is not in the government of the United
States. My hope is not in the leaders of
our country. Do I support them and pray
for them? Yes. But I do not rest my
hope in them. No. They would, and will, all disappoint me and
let me down. They are human, aren't they? My hope is in God. And today, whatever happens I know that ultimately
God is in control, come what may. So any
of you fellow American readers out there – if you haven’t already voted, I
hope you will today. Come to a decision,
whatever that may be, and make a choice.
It is our God-given privilege and I believe our responsibility. After that, just be grateful. Grateful that life goes on after Election Day. Grateful that God is bigger than our
government. And grateful that Christmas commercials
will soon take the place of annoying political ads!
Happy Election Day Sweet Friends!

it's so true! this morning my friend posted "The Lord says, 'I am the Alpha and Omega'" > and it's true! No matter what happens, He is the beginning and end!
thank you for reading my blog! so glad to have found yours, too!
PS: do you ready shereadstruth? so great!
Amen. It'll be good either way when everything is over and done with and social networks can go back to normal. And the way I see it, there is no reason to tell someone who you're voting for because it's not going to change their opinion, it'll only change their opinion of you.
Perfectly said, Nise. I love resting and trusting in God's sovereignty (some things it's much easier for me to do this on than others). Reminds me so much of what our pastor posted today on his blog - pastormikelee.com. Love you!!
thanks for stopping by my site! i love your blog, yay for new follower!
love this! :)
i think your political post says my thoughts exactly, we can't put our trust or hope in the president but in our heavenly Father and He knows who will be declared the winner of this race, He knows everything and I am so thankful He is completely in control!
I, too, have been saddened by the responses I am seeing by so many on social media. The hopelessness and despair does not come from the One we put our hope in, nor is Facebook or Twitter an appropriate platform to stir those discussions.
So well said. He really is in control and knows exactly what's going on and why.
