“Life is 10% what happens to you and
90% how you react to it.”
** Charles Swindoll **
I’m frustrated. Super
frustrated. We were supposed to close on our house yesterday and it
is getting pushed back until today or tomorrow. Yes there is a big
“or” in that sentence which symbolizes the limbo that is my life. It’s
a foreclosure and they only give you 30 days, so yes that is fast, and we were
warned that foreclosures get pushed back a few days at times because it is so
fast… but it is supposed to be done. It was on my
calendar and I was ready! UGH. Yesterday when I got the
news I immediately (and shamefully) starting pointing fingers at anyone and
everyone. “Well it’s because so-and-so didn’t get their paperwork to
the lender in time, or so-and-so didn’t follow-up enough,” I thought. But
then, I took a deep breath, looked at the time and realized I had to go meet
with a kid. As I am walking to my student’s classroom I passed the
above quote, “Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you
react to it.” Boom. Truth hit me from a middle school
wall. And in reality, it’s not THAT big of a deal. Perspective
comes at the darndest times don’t ya think? But it comes when we
need it. And I needed it. In the midst of my crazy life
right now (I’ve worn the same black pants to work for 3 days because my others
are packed away), I am blessed beyond measure. And sometimes my
selfish and stubborn self needs a reminder. So happy hump day
people! What are you thankful for today?
Thankful for these
moments lately…
1. My parents dog that looks like rat will sleep any time she pleases.
2. My sweet pup.
3. My adorable nephews before a cotillion dance.
4. Checking the mail!
5. Warm muffins with cold ice cream.
6. Sunsets.

Dang, sorry it didn't work out last night. I hope everything goes more smoothly today or tomorrow. You'll be in before you know it :) And then we are coming to visit!!
Great post. It's so easy to get frustrated by the small stuff..but you're right, take that breath and think about how amazing everything else is, and it sure calms you down.
Love you! Good luck!
